Everyone knows that Narva is situated on the eastern border of Estonia. But how many of you know that in fact there exist two Narvas? One is a modern Narva, town built from the silicate bricks and concrete in the Soviet times; the second one is the Old Narva, with the heart is baroque style, which was destroyed by the WW II and later, by the winner of that War.

These two Narvas are not at all separated. We are reminded of the previous brilliance by the pearl of the English factory architecture - the Krenholm manufacture complex. Despite the protests from Moscow, Hermann Castle was restored after the war, as well as another example of baroque architecture of the Old Narva -- the building of the Town Hall. Not all the ruins were taken away during the campaign on liquidation of the traces of war. A good example of that is Alexander church, where the reconstruction works have been particularly active recently.

It is the people of Narva in the first place who have to overcome this border between the two Narvas. Both the new, mainly Russian by nationality, citizens of Narva, who rebuilt Narva after the war, and the "native" people of Narva, Russians and Estonians, who remember "that Narva" and make a connection between the history and the present day. Either group of people has made great efforts to help Narva survive. Either group is unhappy about the border dividing the past and the present.

To join the two Narvas is the aim of the non-profit organization Pro Narva. In order to reach this aim, we carry out activities in two areas: on the one hand, rebuilding the old and valuing the history; on the other hand, looking for opportunities to develop the town further. We join the past, the present and the future into one town space and environment pleasant for living. Let's build the foundations for the future of Narva together!
